LA PETITE PLANETE
History and Authenticity:
Everything started by the buyout of a restaurant that was existing for seven years and that begged to be expanded.
The meeting between a friend, a cook and the wise advices of my girlfriend helped us realize that beautiful adventure that are 'La Petite Planete' restaurants.
The challenge was to convince ourselves that this was answering a market need.
We were quickly convinced as, from the first month in business and with all the problems linked to the opening, we were able to create right away a new eating concept for our clients.
One of the surprising aspects is to see the clients not simply complimenting the food out of politeness but to contribute, get interested and discover what we were building.
The Concept:
The 'La Petite Planete' restaurants are based on the simple concept to be able to eat 'French' worldwide for a reasonable price.
This simple concept must be explained.
Eating French means eating as French people do in their own homes.
Mostly, ambiance and decoration are delicate and refined.
In most cases, high prices are also associated with French cooking.
'La Petite Planete' Restaurants bring home style French cooking at a price that allow everyone to enjoy it.
What could be best than our Mom's home cooking?
French food is made of variety due to the people who have passed through throughout History and also due to the variety in local produce that made its specificity.
It is often highlighted in the 'France of Butter' versus 'France of Oil' debate.
The difficulty in introducing this cooking abroad is in the transportation costs associated to the specific French ingredients and the way to preserve their quality without reaching outrageous prices.
It is on this part that the concept of the 'La Petite Planete' restaurants is original.

Based on the idea that wine makers had been doing it for years, it was now time for framers to apply the idea.

Using this advantage, 'La Petite Planete' restaurants utilize local framers that grow French produce and that are cooked in traditional French home style cooking techniques.
Our French cooks watch carefully over the ingredients, the preparation techniques, the portions and the flavors in order to reach the French taste that is renowned worldwide.
This entire combination allows to reduce the preparation costs and to guarantee the authenticity of the dishes.

Evenings at 'La Petite Planete' are also an opportunity to meet with family or friends around a single dish.
Each evening feature a different 'specialty' dish that is repeated on that day each week.
It is then easy to make plans with friends to decide where and what to eat.

In order to create a concept such as this, the right space (not too small, not too large) was needed.
This is why 'La Petite Planete' restaurants usually accommodate about 30 guests.
Our chefs bring each month new dishes that you can test and decide if they should be incorporated to the menu in the following weeks.
